What We Do

TestedClaims reviews popular health claims and rates them based on the strength of scientific evidence. Instead of opinions, influencer recommendations, or anecdotes, we look at what meta-analyses, systematic reviews, and randomized controlled trials actually show.

Each claim page gives you:

  • A confidence score based on evidence quality
  • A plain-language summary anyone can understand
  • Key caveats and limitations of the research
  • Practical details like dosages and timelines
  • Links to actual studies so you can verify everything

Our Evidence Hierarchy

We prioritize evidence in this order:

  1. Meta-analyses and systematic reviews — The gold standard. These pool data from multiple studies to get the clearest picture.
  2. Randomized controlled trials (RCTs) — Well-designed experiments that can establish causation.
  3. Observational studies — Useful for spotting patterns, but can't prove cause and effect.
  4. Expert opinion — We note consensus views but don't rely on authority alone.

What We're Not

✕

Not medical advice

We summarize research; we don't diagnose, treat, or prescribe.

✕

Not sponsored

No company pays to influence our reviews or scores.

✕

Not selling supplements

We have no products to sell. Our only goal is accurate information.

Our Principles

  1. Evidence over opinion — We follow the data, even when it's inconvenient or goes against popular belief.
  2. Transparency — Our methodology is public. Every source is linked. Check our work.
  3. Accessibility — Complex science, explained simply. No jargon, no gatekeeping.
  4. Honesty about uncertainty — When evidence is weak or conflicting, we say so clearly.
  5. Regular updates — Science evolves. Our reviews evolve with it.

How We Rate Claims

Each claim receives a confidence level based on the quality and consistency of evidence:

Strong Multiple high-quality studies agree. High confidence the effect is real.
Moderate Good evidence, but some limitations or inconsistencies.
Weak Limited evidence. More research needed.
Conflicting Studies disagree. No clear consensus.
None No credible evidence found.

Why Trust Us?

  • No conflicts of interest — We don't sell supplements or accept sponsored content.
  • Transparent methodology — See exactly how we evaluate claims on our methodology page.
  • Primary sources linked — Every study we cite includes DOI links so you can read the original research.
  • Regular updates — Claims are reviewed and updated as new research emerges.
